September 2026 is a month of recalibration.
The skies carry us from the lingering effects of a Pisces Lunar Eclipse into a practical Virgo New Moon, the balance-seeking Equinox and an assertive Aries Full Moon. Together, they tell a clear story: notice what is draining you, restore what has been neglected and make room for something better.
September begins with the feeling of both possibility and pressure. Jupiter supports growth, while Saturn tests whether our plans are sustainable and Mars reveals where we are pushing against our limits. If you have been doing too much, or expanding without enough support, the imbalance may become difficult to ignore.
Virgo offers a practical response. Adjust your budget, change your routine, clear your workspace, ask for help, schedule the rest or finally tend to the part of your life that keeps being pushed aside.
As the Sun enters Libra at the Equinox, the Scales become the symbol at heart of the month. We look more closely at fairness, relationships and the exchange between giving and receiving. By the Aries Full Moon, recognising the problem may no longer be enough. We may need to make a decision, speak a boundary or take one brave step towards what we need.
Throughout this Energy Report, we’ll explore September’s astrology, seasonal celebrations, the ancient symbolism of the Scales and practical ways to work with energy of the month.
Because September is not only asking us to restore balance…
It is asking what might become possible when the Scales finally begin tipping in our favour.

Your Magickal September Calendar
Here is your guide to September’s major astrological, seasonal and magickal moments. As always, all astrology dates and times are given in Pacific Time.
September 1 — Mars Square Saturn
Mars wants movement, while Saturn applies the brakes. Notice where a goal needs more time, support or a better plan.
September 9 — 9/9 Numerology
In modern numerology, 9/9 is associated with completion and release. Use it for cleansing, cord-cutting, banishing or closing an old chapter.
September 10 — Virgo New Moon and Major Planetary Shifts
The Virgo New Moon arrives at 8:27 p.m., supporting a practical beginnings around habits, health, work and routines. Venus enters Scorpio, Mercury enters Libra and Uranus stations retrograde, highlighting relationships, communication and honest reflection.
September 11 — The “Magickal Scales of Fortune” Live Group Spell at 5 p.m. PT
Join us to restore balance and invite Good Fortune to tip the Scales in our favour.
September 22 — The Equinox and the Sun Enters Libra
Mabon arrives in the Northern Hemisphere, while Southern Hemisphere witches welcome Ostara. Pause at this seasonal threshold to work with balance, gratitude, renewal and change.
September 26 — Full Moon in Aries
A bold Full Moon for courage, boundaries and decisive action. Libra seeks harmony; Aries reminds us that our needs also belong upon the Scales.
September 27 — Mars Enters Leo
Creative confidence rises. Work with this energy for confidence, motivation and the courage to express yourself fully.
September 29 — Michaelmas
The Feast of Saint Michael and All Angels carries associations with protection, courage and the triumph of good over evil. Archangel Michael is also traditionally depicted holding Scales and weighing souls, echoing this month’s symbolism.

The September Equinox marks a turning point in the Wheel of the Year, when day and night stand in near-equal balance before the seasons shift.
Northern Hemisphere: Mabon celebrates the second harvest, inviting gratitude for what our efforts have produced and preparation for the darker months ahead.
Southern Hemisphere: Ostara welcomes spring’s return with renewal, fertility and new growth. This is a beautiful time to plant seeds, begin something fresh or reawaken whatever has been resting.
One hemisphere gathers while the other begins to grow. Both invite us to notice what is changing and move with turning season.
September begins with a mixture of momentum and resistance.
Jupiter’s supportive connection with Saturn suggests that meaningful growth is possible, but Mars square Saturn reveals where our energy, time or resources are stretched too thin. The goal may not be wrong, the way we’re pursing it may need to change.
The lingering Pisces Eclipse brings the imbalance into view. Where have you been drifting, avoiding or hoping something will resolve itself? Where has productivity pushed your emotional or spiritual needs aside?
On September 10, the Virgo New Moon does not hand us a blank page. It gives us something more useful: a workbench.
We can examine what is still useful and make practical adjustments. Mercury in Libra emphasises fair communication and compromise, while Venus in Scorpio asks whether our relationships, finances and exchanges of energy are genuinely honest.
The following day, we gather for our Magickal Scales of Fortune Live Group Spell, using this practical New Moon energy to restore balance and create more room for receiving, opportunity and good fortune.
At the Equinox, the symbolism of the Scales becomes even stronger. Here we consider what needs to be gathered, released, restored or allowed to grow.
Then the Aries Full Moon brings fire to what we have recognised.
Aries does not want to discuss the imbalance. It asks you to make the decision, state the boundary, send the message or take the step.
Mars in Leo adds confidence and creative courage, while Michaelmas closes the month beneath the protection of Saint Michael: warrior, guardian and traditional angelic bearer of the Scales.

When the Scales Tip: Balance, Justice & Fortune in Magick
Before the Scales became sacred, they were simply a practical tool.
They weighed grain, herbs, precious metals, medicines and goods exchanged between people. A set of balance scales could make something invisible (weight) plainly visible. Place too much on one side and the imbalance revealed itself.
Perhaps this is why the Scales have remained such a powerful symbol.
We still speak of weighing a decision, receiving our fair share, keeping the books balanced or hoping that circumstances will tip in our favour. The language of the Scales has quietly followed us into modern life.
In ancient Egyptian belief, the heart of the deceased was weighed against Ma’at, the divine embodiment of truth, harmony and cosmic order. Ma’at was represented by an ostrich feather. The weighing did not measure physical heaviness, but how faithfully a person had lived in balance with truth and order.
The ancient Babylonians also associated the stars we now call Libra with scales and balance. Centuries later, Libra became the only sign of the Western zodiac represented by an object rather than a living creature. Its Scales ask us to consider fairness, relationships, choices and the consequences created by what we give and receive.
We encounter the symbol again in Tarot. Justice holds the Scales in one hand and a sword in the other. First, the situation must be weighed honestly. Then a decision must be made.
And on Michaelmas, celebrated on September 29, we find the Scales in the hands of Archangel Michael. Although he is most familiar as a warrior and protector, medieval Christian artwork also shows Michael weighing souls. In one particularly striking image, the Devil attempts to interfere by pulling one side of the Scales down, while Michael raises his spear to stop him.
Even the Scales, it seems, sometimes need protecting from whatever would distort the measure!
For witches, this symbolism offers something wonderfully practical.
When life feels overwhelming, we often experience the weight without clearly seeing where it comes from. We know we are tired, resentful, lonely or stretched too thin… but we may not have stopped to identify which side of life has been taking more than its share.
The Scales ask us to make that imbalance visible.
What has become too heavy?
What has received too little?
What are you carrying from habit, guilt or obligation?
And what goodness have you been forgetting to make room for?
But September’s Magick does not end when the Scales become equal.
In our Magickal Scales of Fortune spell, we will first remove some of what has become too heavy and restore what has been neglected. Only then will we add our Fortune Token and deliberately tip the Scales towards what we wish to receive.
There is an important lesson within that small action.
We are not asking good fortune to cover an imbalance we refuse to address. We are changing what we can, creating room for something better and then inviting the blessings to enter.
Sometimes Magick begins with adding more.
And sometimes it begins by finally admitting that one side has been carrying too much.

September’s astrology reminds us that balance is not always created by adding more.
Sometimes we do not need another routine, responsibility or item on our list. Instead, what we need is to release an obligation, adjust an expectation or admit that something is asking more from us than we can sustainably give.
The movement from Virgo into Libra and then towards the Aries Full Moon creates a useful three-part process.
1. Virgo helps us notice and tend. It draws our attention to the practical details of life: the habits that exhaust us, the systems that no longer work and the small changes that could make everyday life feel more manageable.
2. Libra asks us to weigh and reconsider. Are our relationships fair? Does the exchange between giving and receiving feel mutual? Are we agreeing to things because they are truly right for us, or simply because we wish to avoid discomfort?
3. Then Aries asks us to act.
This is important because recognising an imbalance does not automatically correct it. We may need to say no, ask directly for what we need or make a choice that briefly disturbs the peace in order to create something more honest.
With Jupiter encouraging expansion while Saturn and Mars expose our limits, the skies are also asking us to reconsider what growth really means. Bigger is not necessarily better if we do not have the time, energy or support to sustain it. True prosperity should strengthen our lives, not leave us constantly scrambling to hold everything together.
Venus in Scorpio deepens this conversation by revealing what lies beneath our exchanges. Generosity can become over-giving. Loyalty can become obligation. Independence can quietly become a refusal to receive help.
None of this means that every relationship or responsibility must be divided into perfectly equal portions. Balance is living and changeable. There will be times when one person gives more, one priority requires greater attention or one part of life temporarily takes the lead.
The question is whether the exchange still feels conscious, honest and capable of returning to harmony.
September asks us to make room for support, pleasure, rest and opportunity without feeling that we must first exhaust ourselves to deserve them.
September’s energy is best worked with through small, deliberate adjustments. You do not need to overhaul your entire life. Choose one area that feels noticeably out of balance and begin there.
It is difficult to change something we have only described as overwhelming or not quite right. Try naming both sides of the imbalance clearly:
Work / Rest
Giving / Receiving
Expense / Income
Worry / Peace
Responsibility / Pleasure
Once you can see what has been receiving too much of your energy… and what has not been receiving enough… you can begin making more intentional choices.
Before reaching for another solution, ask whether something can be reduced, released or made simpler.
Cancel an unnecessary commitment. Lower an unrealistic expectation. Delegate a task. Clear one crowded surface. Unsubscribe from something that quietly drains your attention or money.
Creating space is often the first step of good Magick.
Turn your attention towards the lighter side of your Scales. What has been repeatedly postponed because something else always appears more urgent?
Schedule the rest. Make the appointment. Call your friend. Return to your creative practice. Spend time outside. Put money into savings… even if it is only a small amount.
Give the neglected part of your life something real, rather than another promise that you will get to it later.
Notice what happens when someone offers help, kindness, praise or an opportunity. Do you accept it comfortably, minimise it or immediately look for a way to repay it?
This month, practise allowing something good to reach you.
Accept the compliment. Let someone help. State your price clearly. Make your work visible. Ask for what you need without apologising for having needs in the first place.
The Aries Full Moon favours direct movement. Choose one practical action that proves you are serious about the balance you wish to create.
It does not need to be dramatic. A single honest conversation, firmly protected hour or clearly stated boundary may shift far more than a complicated ritual performed without any accompanying change.
Work your Magick…and be willing to move with it.

The Scales of September Spread
This five-card spread will help you identify where your energy has become uneven and what may restore a healthier exchange. Use it at the beginning of the month, around the Equinox or whenever life begins to feel noticeably lopsided.
Before shuffling, take a few slow breaths and ask:
“What do I need to understand about the balance of my life?”
Draw five cards and arrange them like a set of Scales: Cards One and Two on the left, Cards Three and Four on the right, with Card Five resting between them.
Card One: What Has Become Too Heavy?
This card reveals the responsibility, emotion, habit or area of life currently taking more than its share of your energy.
Card Two: What Can I Release or Reduce?
This card shows what may be simplified, delegated, limited or laid down to make the burden lighter.
Card Three: What Has Been Neglected?
This card represents the need, relationship, desire or part of yourself that has not been receiving enough care or attention.
Card Four: What Will Help Restore Balance?
This is your practical guidance. It may suggest an action to take, a quality to embody, a conversation to begin or a form of support to welcome.
Card Five: Where Is Good Fortune Trying to Find Me?
This card reveals the blessing, opportunity or positive movement that may become easier to receive once greater space and balance have been created.
Spend a little time looking at the spread as a whole. Does one side contain noticeably heavier cards? Are the elements evenly distributed? Do the figures turn towards one another, or does one card appear isolated from the rest?
Finally, choose one small action inspired by your reading and complete it within the next twenty-four hours.
September does not ask us to create perfect balance in every corner of our lives. That would become another impossible standard to carry.
Instead, it asks us to notice when the Scales have tipped too far… and to respond before imbalance becomes depletion, resentment or disconnection.
Some adjustments will be practical. We may change a routine, revise a plan or protect more of our time. Others may require something deeper: allowing ourselves to receive, admitting that an arrangement no longer feels fair or releasing the belief that everything depends upon us.
As the seasons turn at the Equinox, remember that balance is not a fixed destination. It is a living relationship between effort and rest, holding on and letting go, tending what already exists and making room for what wishes to emerge.
If you would like to work with these themes in ritual, join us on September 11 at 5 p.m. Pacific Time for our Magickal Scales of Fortune Live Group Spell. Together, we will lighten what has grown burdensome, restore what has been neglected and create space for good fortune to reach us.
Until then, pay attention to the places where life feels lighter, clearer or more generous. These small shifts matter. They are often the first signs that the Magick is already moving.
May your choices bring greater harmony.
May your boundaries protect what matters.
And when Fortune begins tipping the Scales in your favour…
May you be ready to receive it.
